To the join the Air Cadets as a cadet and enjoy the exciting range of activities that young people near you are experiencing you need to be aged between 12 (and in Year 8 at school) and 17 years old.

Whichever squadron you choose to join you are guaranteed a friendly welcome; it is recommended that you take a parent to the squadron with you when you go and enquire.
All cadets are required to follow a Cadet Code of Conduct which outlines what is and is not considered to be acceptable behaviour in the RAF Air Cadets. Click here to download a copy of the Cadet Code of Conduct.
After a short induction period you will be issued with a free uniform consisting of your RAF No.2 Service Working Dress uniforms which you will be expected to maintain it in good order.
Please note: cadets are not issued with parade shoes or No.3 Service Dress – Field Clothing (CS95/PCS-MTP) and combat boots from RAF Clothing Stores. These items may be available from Squadrons clothing stores if they have these items in stock but this is in no way guaranteed.
